Penny Dreadful Productions was set up in 2005 by Mira Dovreni & Philippe Spall. We wanted to create new work, devised theatre, based on strange tales from the past that we had dug up. Our focus was "The Famously Forgotten" - amazing, world changing, freaky, sexy, or just plain peculiar people that most of us had never heard of.  

 

Since that time we have produced 7 new plays, with original music, and toured 6 times to over 100 different venues throughout the UK, from Devon to Scotland, playing to audiences ranging from a roomful of young homeless women to 500 strong audiences in established theatres. Our most ambitious show to date, How To Be Immortal, toured the UK to approximately 30 venues, and our first site-specific show Creak, which took audiences into Deptford Creek river, has just been recommissioned for 2021.
